Darlene Irwin has a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Toronto and an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance (A.R.C.T.) from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association (O.R.M.T.A.) in the North Bay Branch.


Formerly on the teaching staff of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Darlene continues to teach private piano and theory in the Barrie area.


As one of the founding members of the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival, she helped to establish the festival in that city and served for many years on the board of directors, and as head of the Piano Discipline.


Darlene received the prestigious Civic Award of Merit in Cultural Achievement from the mayor of Barrie for her outstanding musical work in the community.


She is the author of The Student Music Organizer - The Complete Dictation Book, as well as many other teaching aids.


When asked to summarize how she feels about teaching music, her reply is simple and it is found in her studio motto:


"Great Music Comes from the Heart."
