I have always had a passion for music!  My greatest joy as a kid was singing.  When I was six years old, my parents asked me and my siblings at the supper table one night if we would like the family to get a piano - but there was one catch!  Someone had to take piano lessons.  My hand shot up immediately and I volunteered because all I could think about was how I would one day be able to accompany myself singing.  At the time, I did not care if I would one day perform on stage or if I would just sing and play in the comfort of my own home.  I just wanted to make music!

Now, I play and teach piano, voice, wind instruments, string instruments, guitar and ukulele.

In 2006, I received my Bachelor's of Arts Combined Honours in History and Gender Equity with a Teachable in Vocal Music.  In 2007, I received my Bachelor's of Education with Music and History Specialists and I became a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.  Currently, I am employed with the Near North District School Board as an Occasional Teacher.

I have performed in many musical theatre shows and in church worship bands.  Since moving to the North Bay area for university in 2002, I sporadically taught individual families music lessons. In 2014, I began teaching private lessons regularly at the J. Brooks Academy of Music and in 2015 I became a full-time music teacher and owner at J. Ede's Music Lessons.  This is the year I also became a certified Music for Young Children's Teacher, a Music Pups Centre Director, a trained Wunderkeys teacher and a teacher member of the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Summer 2019, I judged the Callendar Voice Competition.  In 2021, I joined the Ontario Registered Music Teacher's Association.

Throughout my teaching years, I have had many students take the Royal Conservatory Exams, performed in music competitions such as Kiwanis Festivals and performed in stage productions such as high school musicals and Dreamcoat.

It would be a privilege and an honour to teach you and your family the wonderful joy of music because once you learn how to make music, you can continue it for the rest of your life!
