Deborah Bandy lives in New Liskeard, Ontario where she has been teaching piano since 1997. Her philosophy is to promote a lifetime love of music and music making. Piano students of Deborah have performance opportunities in the community such as participation in the Temiskaming Festival of Music, studio recitals and special events.
Deborah began her piano studies at the age of ten and by fifteen she was playing sacred music at her church. She came from a family of artists so it was no surprise when Deborah started composing piano music during her teenage years. After starting her own family her passion for music lead her to continue her piano studies with Nancy Hughes and later with Lynda Rehder Kennedy, and eventually attaining RCM Grade 10 in Advanced Piano in 2004. She has attended many piano teacher workshops hosted by the ORMTA North Bay & Timmins Branches, gaining inspirational motivation for her students. Deborah has also attended the Music for Young Children, level one training. In 2014 she became a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association. Deborah holds the RCM Elementary Piano Pedagogy certificate and while studying with Jenny Regehr accomplished Part 2 of the Intermediate Piano Pedagogy certificate, the Viva Voce examination while in Victoria, British Columbia January 2016.
In addition to being a private studio teacher Deborah is also a cantor & pianist at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, New Liskeard where she has served in music ministry since 2004. She is also the pianist with the ensemble The Accidentals who perform songs of the 40-50 era. In her spare time Deborah enjoys photography & caring for her 2 canine, Patches and Penelope.
